Have you ever felt empty?  I have!  Sometimes, even as Christians we let life get the best of us and we fail to walk by the Spirit.  That’s when we get into trouble, give in to temptation, and think that God is not with us.  The enemy of our souls loves to trick us into thinking that God is not happy with us and that we are failing as a Christian.  You see, the devil wants us to stay empty.  He doesn’t want us trusting God, and he especially doesn’t want us to be filled with the Spirit.  We’ve got to remember that God is for us!  We can confess our failures to Him, and receive forgiveness and restoration.  1 John 1:9 says:

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We don’t have to be empty anymore.  The key is keeping our eyes off ourselves and what we wish was better about our lives, and focusing on Jesus and the great things He has already done for us.  I think one reason Christians today fail to live a joyful life is because we have not kept our eyes on Jesus!  We have so many distractions in our lives.  What if we wake up each day remembering that Jesus paid the price for us to be rescued from hell and live forever in heaven as a child of God?!  What if we asked to be filled with the Spirit and determined to obey Him daily?  Look what Romans 8:10-11 says:

But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

What a difference our perspective makes on our attitudes.  I have had a perspective that is off, and God has been working on me to change me.  I am so thankful for those of you who have stuck with me and encouraged me as I struggled and failed while trying to make sense of the hardships of life.  God isn’t giving up on me, and He won’t give up on you either!  Get into reading the Word of God daily; it is the living and life changing message of what God has done and what He wants to do in all who will call on His name!  The tomb is empty, Jesus is alive!  Praise the Lord, an empty tomb makes it possible for us to be filled.
